Methods to prevent excessive addition of polyaluminium and amide

‌The way to prevent excessive use of PAM and PAC is to experiment. Small experiments, on-site experiments, etc., or use PAM to determine the dosage of PAM and PAC by investigating water quality. We know that PAC is a water treatment agent that destabilizes and coagulates colloids, and PAM is a water treatment agent that makes the agglomerated micro-flocculations become larger flocs.

PAM application method and dosage identification:

1. The higher the solid content, the greater the amount of flocculant used. The molecular weight of the flocculant is selected according to the floc size required by the treatment process. The ionic type of polyacrylamide must be selected through experiments.

2. The strength of the floc can be improved by increasing the molecular weight of the flocculant. The flocculant must be fully mixed and dissolved with the sludge before treatment. The selection of flocculants must fully consider the requirements of the process and equipment.

Steps to confirm the dosage in the application method of PAC polyaluminum chloride:

1. According to the different conditions of the raw water, a small test can be done before use to obtain the best dosage. For the convenience of calculation, the solution of the small test is prepared according to the weight ratio (W/W), generally 2-5% is better.

2. Add the best dosage obtained by the small test, and pay attention to the adjustment during operation. If the sedimentation tank has little alum and large residual turbidity, the dosage is too little; if the sedimentation tank has large alum and turns up, and the residual turbidity is high, the dosage is too large and should be adjusted appropriately.

Why do we need to find a way to prevent excessive use of PAM and PAC? Let's understand the bad results caused by excessive use.

1. The preparation concentration of PAM is generally around 0.1-0.2%. Low concentration is conducive to mixing and saving reagents;

2. When customers use PAC polyaluminum chloride solid, they usually prepare it at 10% (weight volume ratio), saying that this is convenient for measurement. In fact, it is wrong. Whether the dosage is too large or too small, the sedimentation effect will not achieve the best effect.

3. Excessive use of PAM will reduce the coagulation effect of some water quality, and its toxicity can not be ignored. For organic flocculants, the production cost is generally high, and the degradation monomers of organic flocculants (such as polyacrylamide) cause secondary pollution to water bodies. Therefore, the application of organic flocculants in water treatment is limited, especially in the treatment of drinking water.

Here, Henan Xinhuan reminds everyone that when using water purification agents such as polyaluminium chloride or polyacrylamide, a small test must be done to obtain the best dosage and achieve the most ideal water purification effect.
